OUR HISTORY
Veteran Development and Construction was founded in 2009 and was solely owned and operated by Charles H. Simmons. Charlie, a retired United States Air Force Veteran and Police Officer of 45 years, grew his passion for construction until his passing in March of 2020. His wife, Valerie Simmons, working closely at his side for 20 years, continues to operate the company in honor of Charlie’s memory and carries on his vision, goals, and high standards he instilled within the company.
Veteran Construction started out doing service maintenance work and small interior build outs on commercial properties in the Cleveland, Ohio area with a small staff of 3 employees. With Charlie’s, intuition, honesty, integrity, reputation, quality, and prompt service the company had grown into a Full-Service General Contractor in short order.

Veteran Construction started with approximately $800,000 in annual sales to $10,000,000 by 2014 when we outgrew our former location on Twinbrook Road where it all began. In May of 2015 Charlie purchased our new office building and warehouse on Hendricks Road in Mentor, Ohio with direct exposure on Route 2. The new location had sparked a lot of interest in the company and brought a lot of business through the doors. With all the hard work and dedication of each and every team member, Veteran Construction now does $18.6 million in sales annually and has grown the staff to 30+ team members.
